REFORISTING ART/ REFORESTANDO EL ARTE – Laboratory
Reforesting Art is an interdisciplinary laboratory created by German artist and filmmaker Nina Bendzko as a tribute to the 250th anniversary of Alexander von Humboldt.
In the El Zoque Natural Reserve, a Humboldtian expedition was conducted, involving artists, scientists, journalists, park rangers, and indigenous communities. Engaging all five senses – hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting, and touching – they immersed themselves in observing nature. Each of them produced an artwork inspired by the fundamental elements of water, air, earth, and fire. The curated exhibition was shown in Bogotás Art district San Felipe at the independent art space Plural Nodo Cultural.
The lab made part of the project Humboldt y las Américas and was financed by the German Embassy in Bogotá. Important cooperation partners were the National nature parks of Colombia, the Humboldt Institute Colombia and Siembra Agua, amongst others.
